Bill Belichick believes Josh McDaniels is NFL’s best offensive coordinator

Bill Belichick believes Josh McDaniels is NFL’s best offensive coordinator More The fact that Bill Belichick is Josh McDaniels’ biggest fan is no surprise to anyone. The best example of that might be the fact that the notoriously self-righteous head coach hired McDaniels back as an offensive assistant for their 2011 playoff run, even though he’d spent that regular season with the St. Louis Rams. McDaniels has remained with the team since, and just as it appeared he had moved on again, Belichick and Kraft managed to reel him back in. So while Belichick isn’t normally the most effusive boss, if you’re going to convince someone to give up their shot at a head coaching gig, you better have some seriously nice things to say about them.

If criticism is what Mayfield seeks, there’s one franchise that is a magnet for it. Mayfield has been one of the few quarterback prospects to openly court the Cleveland Browns and even called them an incredible situation. If Mayfield is truly a solar panel transferring negativity into productivity, he’ll have plenty of that with the Browns, who have been the Kansas Jayhawks of the NFL for the better part of two decades.

Wright figures to join the team as a slot receiver who can pair with Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs in the Vikings’ top three-receiver set. He caught 59 passes a year ago with the Bears, playing mostly in the slot, and had his best season in 2013 with the Titans, when he caught 94 passes for 1,079 yards.

The 28-year-old receiver had visited the Chiefs last week, before making a trip to Minnesota to meet with the Vikings. His addition comes a week after the team released Jarius Wright to clear salary cap space; Kendall Wright, who turns 29 in November, gives the team another weapon for new quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Fifty-one of Wright’s 82 targets came while he was lined up as a slot receiver last season, according to Pro Football Focus. He caught 41 of those passes in the slot with just one drop, good for an 80.4 catch rate that was the highest in the league from the position.

Oh, no. I’m still nervous. I’m nervous right now. It’s just part of being an athlete. I think it’s more fun. Not really nerves, just excited for things to get going.
